Indian Body Scrubs

Body scrubs not only help you get a deep clean but also get rid of rough and bumpy skin. Chicken skin or KP (keratosis pilaris), is one of the most common reasons why people turn to exfoliating scrubs.

However, Indian skin is usually susceptible to pigmentation if the scrub is too abrasive. The best way to prevent hurting your skin and getting pigmentation is to use soft pressure and deeply moisturize your skin before and after scrubbing.

Here’s a list of the top 5 best body scrubs in India, ranging from budget-friendly scrubs to some more luxurious options:

1. Murshmallow Coconut Milk and Vanilla Body Polish

While this product is slightly expensive, I couldn’t help but put it in the first place. The Murshmallow body polish is everything that you expect and more: It’s gentle, hydrating, brightening, has great ingredients, and smells divine.

I’ve seen a few celebrities rave about this body scrub and finally decided to get my hands on it. Fortunately, this product did not disappoint at all. The scrub particles are made of dead sea salt which is very gentle, moreover, you can add some more water to make the salt dissolve a bit to make it even gentler.

Some of the highlight ingredients include bakuchiol, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, lactic acid, shea butter, and coconut milk. With an ingredient list like that, you’re going to see a difference from day one. A 350ml jar of the Murshmallow Body Polish is priced at Rs 1299. You can get this body scrub for women on their website or from Amazon.

2. Dove Exfoliating Body Scrub (Macadamia & Rice Milk)

The Dove body scrub is a cult favorite and now it’s my favorite as well. While it seems a bit expensive at first, remember that the jar is going to be much larger than you expect, moreover, a little goes a long way.

I’m not a fan of fragrance in skincare and I’m not very fond of the vanilla scent on this one, but most users enjoy the smell. So you’re either going to love it or hate it. This scrub uses crushed macadamia nuts as exfoliators and is overall pretty mild.

My favorite thing is the deep moisturization. It leaves your skin soft and slightly shiny for days. If you have strawberry skin (bumpy rough skin with small dots), you will start to see improvement in 3 uses.

You can get the product on Nykaa. I’d advise waiting for a good sale to get this product.

3. Mcaffeine Coffee Body Scrub

This is the OG coffee body scrub which has been a hit in the Indian market. This has been my constant for the times I had really tough, dry, and bumpy skin (keratosis pilaris). That being said, the Mcaffeine body scrub is quite abrasive and can actually cause micro tears if you apply too much pressure.

This body exfoliator is meant to be used in small amounts with very light pressure. The best thing is that the body scrub is infused with coconut oil and it leaves my skin so hydrated after use. Moreover, coffee can help your skin get rid of the summer tan and deep clean your body at the same time.

Also note, that this is definitely not to be used on the face, not even a little bit. You can get the Mcaffeine coffee body scrub on their website for Rs 449 (100g). PS: They usually have great offers on various online marketplaces.

4. Find Your Happy Place Exfoliating Body Scrub

This is another lesser-known brand in India. They have a complete range of body care products and the body scrub is definitely the star of the show. They usually have great sales going on all platforms so you can get them for very cheap.

My favorite flavor is called “sunkissed – ocean waves”. The exfoliating granules are sea salt, so make sure you use less water when you use this or it will dissolve in the water instantly. I recommend using very little water with this one.

Even though this scrub has hydrating ingredients like jojoba oil and shea butter, they’re not nearly enough to keep your skin hydrated after scrubbing. You can buy this product from Tira, Nykaa, or Amazon.

5. Chemist at Play Body Exfoliate Scrub with Coffee & Brown Sugar

I’d call this one the Mcaffeine coffee scrub dupe but it’s a bit different. Apart from having potent physical exfoliants, the Chemist at Play body scrub also has AHAs that chemically exfoliate the skin.

This body exfoliator uses brown sugar, coffee, and walnuts for physical scrubbing. “Ceramides” is the only hydrating agent in this product and I really think it’s not enough. Moreover, walnuts are notorious for being far too abrasive.

I like it because it’s cheap when it’s on sale and gets the job done. If you have a lot of dead, rough, and bumpy skin you can go for this product. You can get the Chemist at Play Body Exfoliate Scrub on their website for Rs. 249.

Did you know that your favorite plastic loofah is home to some very bad bacteria? While I love feeling clean after using a loofah, body scrubs have been life-changing. Yeah, they’re a bit messy but definitely worth the effort!
