Re'equil sheer zinc tinted sunscreen cover image

Finding a great sunscreen that suits your skin and protects it from the sun’s rays is a blessing. You are better off finding true love than finding a sunscreen that does everything you need without any compromise. So when we heard about Re’equil Sheer Zinc Tinted Mineral Sunscreen, our eyes lit up. Could it be the one?

The biggest issue with mineral sunscreen is the difficulty of properly blending it on the face and avoiding the dreaded white cast that comes later. People who have used Neutrogena Sheer Zinc sunscreen can understand. Despite it being one of the best sunscreens on the Indian market, people avoid it because of the white cast.

Now, Re’equil has come up with tinted sunscreen that matches the skin tone of most Indians, or generally colored-skin people. We tried the sunscreen for over a month and are ready with the review. Did Re’equil hit the mark or miss it totally? Let’s find out.

Brand Claims and Ingredients

Re’equil claims that this sunscreen will take away the biggest con of mineral sunscreen; no more white-cast as this sunscreen will blend easily with your skin tone. It comes with 25% zinc, which is great, and it’s a 100%-mineral sunscreen, meaning it does not have any chemical UV blockers.

It comes with SPF 50 and PA+++. The product is free of parabens.

The brand also claims that this sunscreen is suitable for all skin types and that the zinc is non-nano, meaning that it does not penetrate the skin and get inside the blood. Let’s take a look at the ingredients of the Re’equil tinted mineral sunscreen;

Physical Impression

The packaging of the sunscreen is decent. The box of this sunscreen and the tube are both of great quality. The sunscreen we ordered was 50 ML, but since the sunscreen is much denser than normal sunscreen, the size of the tube is small. This is great when you want to carry it while going out.

Coming to the sunscreen, the consistency of the sunscreen is very thick. We would not call it a cream, but a paste. It is a reddish-brown paste with a slight smell. The sunscreen actually feels like a very fine mixture of clay and water.

Application Impression

The application impression was a mixed bag. To explain how it feels on the skin, think of applying a very dry and thick paste to your skin. It is more like covering your skin with the cream than applying it. You get a warm feeling as you apply the sunscreen, which could be due to the ingredients.

After the application, almost every one of the reviewers (except me) felt a heavy coating on their faces. This sunscreen makes its presence known, and if you are someone who gets bothered by thick creams, avoid this one. There is always a sensation of “something on your face.”

While for me, the feeling went away after a few minutes, that could be because my skin is dry. People with oily skin will find this sunscreen a nightmare in a tube.

Review Conditions

Before we get into the review, here are the review conditions and other important bits of information that you should know; The weather conditions at the time of testing were hot, with summer at its peak. The average daytime temperature was around 30 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius (yeah, 40!).

The sunscreen was tested on a group of people with dry skin, combination and sensitive skin, and oily skin. Apart from this, we used SebaMed face cleanser, Neutrogena Salicylic face wash, and The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid. With all that out of the way, let’s get into the review.

Results and Review

After using the Re’equil tinted mineral sunscreen for over a month, we have many great things to say about the sunscreen and a few negative things as well. Let’s start with the pudding.

Pros of the Sunscreen

This sunscreen sticks to your face. And by stick, we really mean it. Apply it in the morning, wash your face with water if you want to, and the sunscreen still remains on your face. I remember washing the sunscreen with a proper face wash (because it kept eating SebaMed face cleanser like breakfast) three times in a row to completely remove it from the skin!

So you do not have to worry about sweat washing the sunscreen off. Apart from that, the sun protection is wonderful. This sunscreen works great at protecting your skin from UV rays. You can be relaxed when you are out in the sun with this sunscreen on your face.

Despite having a consistency of a thick paste, the sunscreen does not take too long or too much effort to blend. You can apply sunscreen easily and quickly. Now, coming to the white cast.

Does it Leave a Cast?

It does. No physical sunscreen can completely blend with your skin because that’s the idea behind a physical sunscreen; it does not get absorbed into your skin but rather forms a film all over it. But tinted sunscreens are great for people with brown or dark skin tones.

For people with brown skin tones, it blends well and is difficult for anyone to notice the cast. But with careful observation, it can be seen. It definitely is not a con. However, if you are someone with a fair skin tone, it would make your face look slightly dull.

Cons

The most staggering con would be the heavy feeling after the application of this sunscreen. If you have oily skin, the heavy feeling will be a deal-breaker, no matter how great the sunscreen is.

Apart from that, despite having dry skin, I noticed a few breakouts after regular application. But I cannot really complain because I used to over-apply the cream. So that was expected. One other reviewer with oily skin also noticed breakouts.
